Shipping

Shipping – how to book at Lauritz.com

Different transport options available for collecting an item at the auction house:

1. Parcel delivery by post:
You can choose to have smaller items that comply with certain size and weight criteria sent by post. Read more...

2. Shipment with our shipping partners:
You can choose to have larger items shipped using Windum Logistics, the shipping partner with which we collaborate in Denmark and Germany, or using Transportbyrån, our shipping partner in Sweden.

3. Pick up the lot yourself at the auction house or shipment with an independent transport company:
You can choose to collect the item in person or give someone else written permission to do this on your behalf, including a transport company other than one of those we offer. If you collect the item yourself you must remember to bring your purchase receipt and valid photo ID (passport or driving licence). If you send someone else to collect your item on your behalf, in addition to the purchase receipt and their own ID, they must bring a copy of your ID and written authority from you permitting them to collect the item on your behalf. See opening hours and addresses of the auction house where you have won an auction. Please note that you are fully responsible for handling your item on collection.

All agreements about shipping are made directly between you and the transport company of your choice. If you have requested a transport company to collect your lot, you must remember to inform the auction house in which your lot is located. In order to avoid storage fees you must therefore make the auction house aware of the shipping arrangements you have made with the transport company.

Choice of shipping option is important for whether you will be refunded shipping costs when cancelling a purchase
When a purchase is cancelled, costs incurred in delivering the item from Lauritz.com to you will not be refunded unless option 1 or 2 has been chosen. This is because option 3 does not form part of the agreement to purchase an item at Lauritz.com. Please also be aware that when a purchase is cancelled, at all times you incur the cost of the return delivery from you to Lauritz.com. With option 1 and 2, risk for the item is transferred to you when the item has been delivered. With option 3, risk for the item is transferred to you when the item is collected from Lauritz.com.

Prices for parcel delivery or shipping
When a lot is on auction, you can see the price for parcel delivery or shipment of the specific lot during the course of the auction.

When you have won the auction and pay for the lot via our online payment service under 'My page', you can see prices for parcel delivery or shipment. If you have already paid for your lot, you can see transport quotes from independent transport companies here.

Responsibility for parcel delivery and shipping
All items sent by parcel delivery, where you pay Lauritz.com to organize the delivery are covered by insurance. However, an extra fee for extended insurance coverage can be required for items valued at more than EUR 30,000. If an item has been damaged or lost during transit, you must contact the auction house where you have purchased the item.

If you have paid a transport company to deliver your item, and damages or loss occurs in transit, please contact the transport company directly. Lauritz.com cannot be held responsible for deliveries undertaken by transport companies and any compensation claim must be made directly to the transport company. We therefore encourage you to familiarize yourself with the transport company's specific terms of carriage.

As a customer you always need to remember to check your item before you accept delivery of the shipment from a transport company. When you sign the delivery receipt before you have inspected the item you lose your opportunity to complain to the transport company if the item is found to have been damaged during transport. Lauritz.com always wishes to assist our customers as far as possible, but as we are not responsible for shipping we have no opportunity to help you in any potential dispute with the transport company. We therefore encourage you, as mentioned, to inspect the item before you sign for it on delivery.

Feedback
If your lot has been delivered to your home by either a parcel delivery service or a transport company, you can help other customers by letting us know if you were satisfied with the service. You can give your feedback here. At Lauritz.com, we read all the feedback we receive and take it into consideration when we decide which transport options we find appropriate for our customers.

Customs duty and import VAT
Please note that special rules apply when importing items across EU borders. A buyer from an EU country (e.g. Denmark or Sweden) will incur customs duty and import VAT when importing a lot purchased in a country outside the EU (e.g. Norway).
