Description

Arne Jacobsen 1902-1971. 'The Swan', four-star swivel base in aluminium. Upholstered in cognac-coloured aniline leather. H. 73/36 cm. Produced and labelled by Fritz Hansen, October 1966, Model 3320. Designed in 1957-1958 for the Hotel Royal in Copenhagen. Literature: C. Thau and K. Vindum. 'Arne Jacobsen', mentioned and reproduced on p. 469. Recently upholstered by other professional upholsterers in cognac-coloured aniline leather, with natural structure. Signs of wear on the frame.

Aniline leather is made of high-quality raw leather. As a rule, the leather has a completely natural stripped surface, where all natural marks are visible. This helps to emphasize the unique character of the leather. The leather is full-grain, which means that the natural surface structure is preserved. Aniline leather changes over time through use and the effects of light, and it quickly develops a naturally beautiful patina.
