Description
Arne Jacobsen 1902-1971. 'The Golden Egg', Model 3316, with matching footstool, Model 3127, 60th anniversary collection 2018. Each upholstered in pure aniline leather, fully moulded four-star base in aluminium gilt with 23 kt. gold. Designed in 1958. Produced by Fritz Hansen, 2018, in a limited edition of 1958 pieces in connection with the egg's 60th anniversary. The chair is engraved with a serial number under the seat cushion with number 0237/1958. The chair and footstool are engraved with the 60th anniversary engraving with corresponding numbering and number certificate for each. Associated book included. Original packaging, shade differences in the leather between lounge chair and footstool, and minimal wear on the leather, including one corner. (2)
This 60th anniversary celebrates the silhouette of 'The Egg', 'The Swan', 'The Drop', and the SAS Hotel Royal, for which the chairs were originally designed. The aniline leather, with its silky-smooth surface, also tells a visual story of its unique origin. Genuine and unadulterated beauty emerges in the form of scars, insect bites, and visible neck folds, marks that reflect the leather's natural and lived life.
