Description

Walther Nielsen. A pair of sculptural chairs, the 'Samurai Chair', in solid ash, H. 79 W. 58 seat height 43 cm. Displays natural usage-related traces of wear and patina.

Walther Nielsen (1929-1990) received his education from the School for Free and Mercantile Art. Subsequently, he began as a designer of pipes and later furniture, primarily chairs. Walther Nielsen's furniture never came into standard production, as they were too expensive to produce for it to be profitable. Thus, most of his furniture was made in his own workshop in Øster Højby, and only for people that he liked. Present chairs were produced in the 1980s. It is uncertain how many copies exist.
