Description
Arne Jacobsen 1902-1971. Detached sofa, 'The Swan', Model 3321, frame in aluminium, fully upholstered in black aniline leather. Designed in 1957. Produced by Fritz Hansen. H. 77/39 cm. L. 144 cm. Literature: Carsten Thau and Kjeld Vindum. 'Arne Jacobsen', discussed and reproduced on pp.143 and 470. Professionally reupholstered.
Aniline leather is made of high-quality raw leather. As a rule, the leather has a completely natural stripped surface, where all natural marks are visible. This helps to emphasize the unique character of the leather. The leather is full-grain, which means that the natural surface structure is preserved. Aniline leather changes over time through use and the effects of light, and it quickly develops a naturally beautiful patina.
