Description
Chinese Guanyin figure in bronze. Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644. The god sits in the dhyanasana pose holding a roll in his hands, dressed a cloak draped around the body and embellished at the top with flowers and leaves. Embellished with necklaces and earrings, the face reflects a meditative expression. Traces of red pigment and gold lacquer. Base from a later period. The throne is missing. Later part of the Ming dynasty, 1368-1644. Height 33 cm. without stand. Weight approx. 6.6 kg. Provenance: From a Danish private collection. Bought from antique dealer Ole Haslund, 1877-1962, in Copenhagen, Denmark, in the mid-20th century.
