Description
Arne Jacobsen 1902-1971. Lounge chair, 'The Egg' Model 3316. Tilt, Four-star base in solid aluminium. Designed in 1958. Produced and labelled by Fritz Hansen. Professionally reupholstered in original 'Elegance' aniline leather. Minimal signs of wear. Literature: C. Thau and K. Vindum. 'Arne Jacobsen', 1998, cited on pp. 144, 432; reproduced on pp. 433, 438-439, 467, 471-472.
Aniline leather is made of high-quality raw leather. As a rule, the leather has a completely natural stripped surface, where all natural marks are visible. This helps to emphasize the unique character of the leather. The leather is full-grain, which means that the natural surface structure is preserved. Aniline leather changes over time through use and the effects of light, and it quickly develops a naturally beautiful patina.
