Description

Large, round plate from the 'Classenske' set of East Indian porcelain decorated in colours and gold with J.Fr. Saly´s equestrian statue of Frederik V, openwork edge on woven base. Edge decorated in colours on gold background. This set was ordered by the Danish Asiatic Company and given to General War Commissioner J. Fr. Classen in gratitude for payment of the fence around the equestrian statue in front of the Royal palace Amalienborg in Copenhagen. Diam. 26. Decoration worn. Purchased at ARB auction 263. No. 1125.
