Description

Gendai Seki Gusoku (complete set, Samurai suit of armour) O-Yoroi, early Showa period, Japan. The main parts are made of iron, the odoshi (straps), and main fabric parts are made of silk, otherwise of cotton and leather. All kanamonos (ornaments) and fukurin (piping/frame) are made of brass. The suit of armour comprises: Kabuto (helmet): Zaboshi Bachi Akoda Nari Kabuto 8 ken (plates) Suji Bachi Kabuto with Kasa Sugake Shikoro. Maedate (crest): Kuwagata style Menpo (mask): Nara style Kebiki Yodarekake, horsehair moustache, red varnish inside. Dou (cuirass): Yokohagi Okegawa Ni-Mai Dou, fitted with 5 lamella Kebiki Kusazuri. Kote (vambrace): Shino Kote. O-Sode (spaulders): 7 lamellae, Kebiki O-Sode. Haidate (cuisse): Shino Haidate. Suneate (greaves): 3 plates Shino Suneate with Teteage. Kurijime-o: silk belt. Original Hitsu (box). Modern stand. Wear and patina commensurate with age, total height: H 145cm (suit of armour and box).
