Description
Chinese Guanyin figure in bronze, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The god sits in dhyanasana, holding a roll in his hands, wearing a cape draped around the body and embellished at the top with flowers and leaves. Adorned with necklaces and earrings, the face expresses a meditative expression. Traces of red pigment and gold varnish. Later condition. Throne is missing. Later Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). H. 33 cm, without stand. Weight approx. 6.6 kg.
Provenance: From a Danish private collection. Purchased from antique dealer Ole Haslund (1877-1962) in Copenhagen, Denmark, in the mid-20th century.
