Beskrivelse

1. Bronze hollow-cast head of Khnum. Probably the figurative section of an aegis composed of more than one piece, or possibly a composite statuette or staff. Most of the horns are missing and there is rather extensive corrosion. Fine features. Green and red patina. Grey fired pottery core. TIP to Late Period. H: 61, W: 43, D: 50 mm. H. Rooke, USA 1995.
2. Statuette of an Oxyrhynchus fish in bronze with a crown and integral base. Eyes probably originally inlaid. Tail broken and missing, crown damaged, some corrosion damage. Late Period. From a US collection.
3. A curved ram’s horn in bronze from a composite statuette of Khnum. This curved horn with molded detail and tang would probably have been mounted on a carved body of wood. Fine patina. TIP to Late Period. Tetragon, London 1992.
4. A finely detailed falcon’s leg in bronze from a composite statuette of Horus. Tips of two front claws broken and missing. Tang at top of leg for attachment to statuette and a tang beneath for attachment to a base. Jason Palmer (Tomb of Ancients) NJ, 2007.
5. A miniature figured situla in bronze (ritual offering vessel for water). Pointed base with lotus design and a single register in relief with two female deities shown standing (very worn). Loops for the handle attached to rim - both intact. Heavy corrosion layer which has been picked off in areas to outer surface. Inside uncleaned. Late Period to Ptolemaic. L: 70, W: 21.6, D: 21.7 mm. Pars Antiques, London 1998.
6. Hinge from a shrine door in bronze. Hollow interior for attachment to wooden plank and a knob off the end of one side which was used as a pivot. Late Period to Ptolemaic. H: 5.5, L: 6 cm. Intact and in very good condition, although highly encrusted patina. Provenance: Old Australian collection, acquired in 2002. Exceptionally rare object from a temple – such shrine doors were opened by the priest as part of the daily ritual surrounding the deity.
This lot was part of a private collection of Egyptian antiquities bought at auction at Lauritz.com Roskilde March 2016.
