Lauritz is proud to announce the winner of Lauritz Icon 2019; Monica Förster with the chair Sana for Zanat.

For the 7th year in a row we announce the winner of the Lauritz Icon Award – in close collaboration with Swedish Residence Magazine. The award celebrates new Swedish furniture design and designers with potential to become design classics. This year we fell in love with Monica Försters beautiful chair Sana.

The sweeping curve of the chair is a sophisticated design solution, as if made of paper with overtones of American midcentury. The back is decorated with the fascinating Zanat craftsmanship, telling a story of tools, hands and knowledge. A craft performed in Bosnia-Herzegovina by the family business Zanat, honored by UNESCO for its unique craftsmanship.

Mette Rode Sundstrøm, co-owner of explains; Inspired by nature’s materials and traditional craftsmanship, Monica Förster creates trendsetting cultural history on the contemporary design scene. The Sana chair has the originality required to become a design icon. We believe that the chair has the potential to attract bidders at auction in 25 years and become part of a sustainable cycle of used furniture that swaps home from one happy owner to another.
