Description
Russian icon depicting St. George standing as a soldier with sword and spear, tempera on wood, panel with double folded image surface (double kovcheg). 17th century. 31.5 x 27 cm. Displays age-related traces of wear, repair of crack on the panel, restored.
This auction is part of Lauritz.com Helsingør's theme auction 'Russian icons for the people!', Which features a wide range of iconic world designs, mainly in the form of icons painted on wood, but also some travel icons/crosses in brass.
