Code of conduct

It is important to Lauritz.com to hold auctions based on customer needs. We achieve this by, among other things, providing a straightforward, honest and secure place to buy and sell at auction. To ensure our objectivity we have prepared an ethical code of conduct.

Bidding and buying at Lauritz.com
• Staff may buy privately for their homes or collections, etc
• Staff may not bid on their own lots to achieve a higher hammer price
• Staff may not bid on sellers’ lots to achieve a higher hammer price
• Lauritz.com as a company does not bid on lots to achieve a higher hammer price
• Lauritz.com as a company does not buy lots at its own auctions, apart from isolated purchases for own use or collections
• Staff do not have cancellation rights
• At Lauritz.com staff are not permitted to buy and sell professionally. This means buying an item (at Lauritz.com, in another auction house, at a flea market, etc) to sell it at Lauritz.com (or in another auction, flea market, etc) at a profit

Selling at Lauritz.com
• Staff may sell privately from their homes or collections or sell items they have inherited, etc
• One specialist's private sale is handled by another specialist
• If a manager/member of staff has previously worked as a gallery owner or antique dealer or similar occupation, then the manager/member of staff must have discontinued this activity before starting work at Lauritz.com
• A manager/member of staff, however, is permitted to sell the rest of their former stock (art, antiques, etc) at Lauritz.com over a defined period. This must be agreed in advance and approved by management at Lauritz.com’s headquarters
• Lauritz.com as a company does not sell lots at its own auctions, apart from isolated sale of items used by the auction houses or from the auction houses’ collections
• At Lauritz.com staff are not permitted to buy and sell professionally. This means buying an item (at Lauritz.com, in another auction house, at a flea market, etc) to sell it at Lauritz.com (or in another auction, flea market, etc) at a profit

Close relations buying and selling at Lauritz.com
• At Lauritz.com staff may enter into personal relationships, whether they work in the same auction house or in different auction houses
• A member of staff may not bid on lots sold by their partner/spouse, relative or other individual close to the member of staff, or vice versa, unless this is agreed in advance and approved by management at Lauritz.com’s headquarters, so it can be assured the bids placed are genuine
• A member of staff's partner/spouse, relative or other individual close to the member of staff may sell privately at Lauritz.com in the auction house where the member of staff is employed. But the sale must always be handled by a specialist other than the member of staff in question
• If a member of staff’s partner/spouse, relative or other individual close to the member of staff sells professionally at Lauritz.com, this person is not permitted to sell in the auction house where the member of staff is employed

Other auction rules
• Sellers may not bid on their own lots
• Only a few selected Lauritz.com system administrators have access to customers' Max-bids. Therefore, members of staff, management and owners do not have access to Max-bids. System administrators are the only staff in the Lauritz.com group not permitted to bid on lots at Lauritz.com
• Lauritz.com is committed to ensuring confidentiality and security with regard to its customers’ personal information. We therefore ensure customer anonymity. This means that a customer buying and selling at Lauritz.com does so anonymously and only Lauritz.com knows the customer’s identity. An exception to this, however, is if the police request information about a specific seller or buyer. Here, the information is passed on to the police
• Employees are obligated to acquaint themselves with and to comply with the instructions and policies in Lauritz.com's personal data policy
