We are proud to present the opening of Lauritz Kunsthal with the exhibition SALON #1 - Danish Art NOW!
This exhibition displays works by 32 contemporary Danish artists, who together represent a broad spectrum of genres and trends on the local art scene.

Danish art has undergone significant changes during the past years and a wide range of new genres and media have seen the light of day. The exhibition SALON #1 - Danish Art NOW! highlights the most influential developments within contemporary art and simultaneously questions the definition of the art work as 'Danish'. Danish art has never been more varied than it is now and many Danish artists live outside of the country's borders. SALON #1 is a reflection of the internationalisation of Danish art during recent years.


SALON #1 - Danish Art NOW! is centred on the following themes: Nature, Home, Market, Form, City, Memory and Other Worlds.

Lauritz Kunsthal emerges as an independent universe originating from the auction house An unusual actor on the art scene, Lauritz Kunsthal offers an innovative platform for the promotion of contemporary art with international flavour.
The exhibited artists and their work are presented to a vast audience of buyers through Lauritz Kunsthal as well as on, which boasts 1.6 million visitors every month. Art works are sold at fixed prices or at auction. Lauritz Kunsthal's ambitious programme combined with's online exposure form a dynamic link between artists and public.

Lauritz Kunsthal provides a framework for niche art as well as art with wider appeal while creating a special space for video art and new media. Lauritz Kunsthal will present 7 exhibitions of Danish and international art and design annually, at Museumsbygningen in Copenhagen. Each spring and autumn a SALON # exhibition will promote the newest developments in contemporary art to a worldwide audience through various media including the internet.
