Description
Pierre Marie Beyle 1838-1902. 'Fleur de pommier'. Oil on canvas. Signed Beyle. In a frame from the period in gilt wood and gesso. 140 x 104 (109 x 75) cm. On the back with exhibition number 204, canvas is stamped '36 rue du Cherche-Midi. Paris. Alan-Hardy. Dorures Encadrements'. Literature: A study for the painting in 'L'Illustration, Journal Universel, No. 1957, Vol. LXXVI, August 28, 1880'.
Provenance: The painting was purchased at Tølløse castle before 1932. Restored at the Aarhus Art Museum in 1977. Some peeling on the bottom.
