Description

Jørgen Groth. 'Borgmesterskrivebord'. Free-standing desk with table tops and front panels in Brazilian-rosewood with mirrored graining, front with two drawers, one of which with an ashtray, frame in satin-polished spring steel. Designed in 1962 by the architect Jørgen Groth for Gunnar Petersen's Drawing Room. The table tops and fronts are produced by the Wood sculptor & Carpenter company Borella-Hansen & Co, Hillerød. The shelves are produced by the smithing company Herluf Poulsen, Tikøb, the same company that produced the frames for Poul Kjærholm's furniture from E. Kold Christensen. H. 74, W. 108x82 cm. Features a later installed lamp and microphone plug, slight shade differences on the table top and individual veneer chipping.
Produced for the city council hall in Frederiksborg Slotssogn Municipality’s new town hall in 1962. On February 12, 1962, Frederiksborg Slotsogn Municipality’s new town hall was opened at Frederiksværksgade 39, Hillerød. In 1966, Slotssogn Municipality was combined with Hillerød Municipality, but the furniture was kept as the new municipality's city council furniture. CITES-certificate from The Danish Environmental Protection Agency for trade within the EU included. For trade outside the EU an export/import license must be sought. The CITES certificate is also valid for multiple sales within Denmark – it is item specific and follows the item from buyer to buyer.
