Description
Sculpture / figure, Chinese figures cycle, mammoth tooth, wood, China, early twentieth century. Relief carving of a mammoth tooth with the depictions of a train of Chinese figures with horses and waving flags, at centre the depiction of a judge's table, and on the right with dragon wagon and train, on a three-legged dark brown glazed wooden plinth, centre with two carved hearts flanked by volutes, reverse side features Chinese characters, H 21cm, W 57cm, D 10cm, scuffing commensurate with age, minor scratches in the wood, as well as minimal chips in the tooth, one element broken out from reverse side mounted with adhesive tape.
