Wegner is one of the most significant figures in Danish design and a key player in the movement that later became known as Danish Modern, which put Danish design on the global map. His furniture is exhibited in design museums around the world, and there is hardly a book on modern design in which he is not mentioned.

He did not see himself as a great oridealistic innovator.
