Poul Henningsen (1894-1967). PH 4/3 table lamp with a frame of patinated brass, manufactured with a continuous switch. Fitted with later upper and middle shades of 2-layer opal glass. Stamped: Patt. Appl. Manufactured by Louis Poulsen, circa 1927. H. 53 cm. Ø 40 cm. Age-related wear and patina, missing lower shade, original switch missing, switch rods included, newer cord fitted with switch.

Provenance: Toldboden in Horsens. Acquired by a former employee, the applicant's father, in the 1960s.

The PH table lamp was completed in February 1927, and the first examples from the time are marked 'PAT. APPL.' (Patent applied). In the spring of 1928, the lamps were patented, after which they were labeled 'PATENTED' for a period.
This table lamp is thus an early example.
